Opening Day!

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

June 16, Bloomsday Flowers opened for business! After a hectic week we opened the doors Friday morning, and had an open house all day to welcome friends and family. It was a wonderful day, full of sunshine and flowers:D

progress

Only a few more days until we open, wanted to take the opportunity to post some pictures of our progress over the past few months, from the building site we first started working on through all the stages along the way. The shop was actually a house when we first looked at it, took a bit of imagination to see what it would be like without the walls and doors and old carpet and furniture…the transformation is amazing!

These are really early days, very little work had been done besides walls knocked down and reclaimed brick put in. Didn’t have a ceiling!

An introduction

Monday, June 12th, 2006

I’m going to begin at the beginning, so that family and friends as well as passers-by will be up to speed with all the progress we’ve been making getting the shop off of the ground.

First things first…here is the premises, East End House in Main Street Carrigtwohill. It’s a perfect spot, as you come off of the main road it’s dead ahead of you, really centrally located. The Castle Bar, to the left as you’re looking at it, has just been renovated and is going to begin serving food as well, soon, so it will be a draw to the area.

The shop is gorgeous, too, because it has the two big windows to the front plus the glass-paned door, and it’s south-east facing, so it gets loads of light all day without overheating on sunny days. The town is really bustling through the day and gets loads of traffic, plus lots to watch while you’re working:D

The front of the shop will be transformed this week, so consider this the before picture!

Finally, after weeks of complete bewilderment, I have wrestled WordPress into submission and come up with something like a blog! Just in time as we get ready for our opening on Friday. I’ll take the opportunity over the next few days to post all of the ‘in progress’ photos from the shop, a little sneak preview of the fruits of our labour. Such an exciting time! Counting down the days!!
